I have been a life long learner...at least that is what I choose to call it :-) I have my Bachelors Degree in Social Studies Education. I have a Master's Degree in School Counseling, and my Education Specialists Degree in Leadership and Policy Analysis. That is a fancy word for "I can be a principal." I have attended many different colleges and universities to attain these degrees and they have all served me well in my professional career.
My Family, My Life...
I am married to my wonderful wife Jennifer and we have two incredible daughters Ellie and Emily. We also have a Lab/Australian Shepard mix named Molly and a cat named Twist. The majority of my immediate family lives in Columbia which is also where I call home. I enjoy playing basketball, golf, and working out (when I have the time). I also enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
Where I've Been...
The better questions is where haven't I been. My education and career has taken me to many places around the state of Missouri. My educational career began in Cape Girardeau, MO where I taught 8th grade American History and coached junior high basketball. I spent four years in Cape and enjoyed everything about it except the distance from home. I was fortunate enough to have the chance to come back home and work at what was then Oakland Junior High School teaching 8th grade American History and coaching basketball at Hickman High School. After four years at Oakland I made a career change to pursue my Master's Degree in School Counseling. I took a year off from teaching to earn my degree. After one year away from teaching I was lucky enough to be hired at North Callaway R1 Schools. I spent a year teaching 7th and 8th grade Social Studies before being hired as one of two counselors at North Callaway High School. I spent four years as a school counselor before pursuing my administrative career. I was the Assistant Principal at North Callaway High School for four years and then spent the next four years as Principal. My experiences have led me to realize that school counseling is exactly where I want to be and cannot tell you all how excited I am to be doing what I love here at Sturgeon. My career seems to be in chunks of four so I feel very FOURtunate that I am a Bulldog and am looking forward to great times here.
